The Alpha Theta Chapter (Nebraska) of Phi Beta Mu will conduct their annual meeting
on Saturday, March 6 at 12:15 a.m. in the Embassy Suites Hotel.

Phi Beta Mu is an International Bandmasters Fraternity, which honors outstanding band
directors in the state. Its mission is to help promote good fellowship among its
members, encourage the building of better bands and the development of better
musicians in our schools and to foster deeper appreciation and more widespread
interest in good music on the part of the lay public.

The goals of the Alpha Theta Chapter of Phi Beta Mu is to help support the efforts of the
Nebraska State Bandmasters Association and Nebraska Music Educators Association.

Phi Beta Mu will be sponsoring the Richard Miles clinic at the spring NSBA Convention
in Lincoln. That session will occur on Friday, March 7th at 1:30 p.m.

Other activities that Phi Beta Mu will be involved in will be the Band Director Boot camp
at the summer NSBA convention, establishing and maintaining a band resource web
site, and recognizing the great accomplishments of many of its members.

Congratulations to the following Phi Beta Mu members for their accomplishments:
Byron Braasch, who received the John Phillip Sousa Legion of Honor Award
which recognizes nationally outstanding high school band directors with a long
history of dedicated service to bands.

Anniversary Fanfare, composed by Jay Gilbert, was performed at the Midwest
Band / Orchestra Clinic in Chicago in December.

Matt Sheppard for winning from Warner Brothers Publications, a free
commissioned work by Ralph Ford for the Millard North Jazz Band.

Doug Johnson, for receiving the NMEA Music Educator of the Year Award.

Terry Rush / Byron Braasch / Gary Davis whose bands have been selected to
perform at the spring 2003 NSBA convention.
